Recovering from Burnout | Dr. Kate Steiner

When it comes to preventing burns, we actively engage in many ways from using sunscreen to observing “caution hot liquid” warnings. However, we do not always apply that same prevention strategy to our life in regard to burnout. This workshop will introduce you to a self-reflective process used to create a personalized sustainability and wellness plan. This plan is focused on honoring that career influences your life and happiness. This is not about finding balance but rather creating a plan that allows you to observe your wellness, prepare for burn events and recover in your personal way. By using this model, you will develop stronger resilience and build a practice of addressing burn events in your life.

You will...

  • Learn research-backed practices meant to increase longevity in their careers.
  • Develop a personal plan to observe, plan and recover from burn events.
  • Identify the importance of work/life integration, not work/life balance.

Resilience Reminder: Your job has changed, the world is complicated, AND you still got this | James T. Robilotta & Tina VanSteenbergen

For those who plan events, the last 20 months have probably felt like one long fire-alarm going off in the middle of your conference. Between mandates, supply chains, company policies, and more people being allergic to gluten, your role as meeting planners has been a series of ever-moving targets. It can be hard to do what you love when what you love looks different. And. You are here today, navigating the new and moving forward. You have proven your capability, your capacity, and your creativity week after week. But even in all you have overcome and adapted to, it can be difficult to acknowledge your success. In this hysterical, powerful, and motivational session, you will get out of your head, rewrite internal stories, and honor your resilience. Because you are worth it, and because doing so is the key to confidently moving forward.

You will...

  • Develop trust in themselves using tools of reflection and positive affirmations.
  • Dismantle negative storytelling patterns, and replace them with purposeful, accurate self-talk.
  • Discover ways to activate their confidence during times of doubt to keep moving forward.

Fearful to more Fearless Moments: Identifying and leveraging your Uncertainty, Worry & FEAR | Darryl Bellamy

Will, my industry ever be the same, will this uncertainty last forever? Am I up for it? Those may be a few questions going through your mind regarding what the future holds for you, your team, and the industry. You might have forgotten, but you are built to handle it. You are up for the challenge. Living in a period marked by constant change can lead to anxiety and fear about what is to come, sometimes paralyzing. Unfortunately, fear itself will never entirely go away, so to thrive, you must learn how your fear and worry can benefit you if harnessed correctly. This session will allow you to identify the fears holding you back and consider the root causes of that fear. You'll gain practical strategies to reframe your fear and uncertainty in the new year while feeling more connected to your peers. You'll leave with tools to not only help yourself but those you lead and serve as well.

You will...

  • Attendees will be able to clearly identify some of their fears along with the possible root causes.
  • Attendees will receive practical strategies to reframe their fears and uncertainty going into 2022.
  • Attendees will leave feeling more connected to their peers with tools to assist those they serve through their fears.

The Unstoppable Workplace: Overcoming the Impact of Imposter Syndrome

Aug 18, 2021 10:00am ‐ Aug 18, 2021 11:00am

Identification: 08182021

1 Clock Hour | Domain E: Human Resources

Imposter Syndrome is toxic for business. 84% of entrepreneurs (both men and women) admit to experiencing it at some point in their career, and leadership's own sense of self-doubt can infect an entire culture. The results are proven lower productivity and performance, less revenue, and reduced engagement - the very things no business can afford.

Stacey's own struggle with imposter syndrome, as a high-achieving CEO, and her personal journey out of it, is full of practical stories, and surprising shifts that can transform a culture of imposters into a thriving workplace that is truly unstoppable.

Learner Outcomes:

1. Recognize the hidden signs of imposter syndrome in your team and your business.

2. Discover the key behaviors and feedback that stop imposter syndrome in its tracks.

3. Practice setting a high bar for performance without setting your team up to feel like a failure or fraud.

People are craving being human. Do Good to Lead Well Through Crisis: The Science and Practice of Resilient Leadership

Dec 9, 2020 11:00am ‐ Dec 9, 2020 12:00pm

Identification: 12092020webinar

1 Clock Hour | Domain F: Stakeholder Management

There is a prevailing assumption that doing what’s right gets in the way of our success. In order to “make it,” we must leave our core values and integrity at the door. Most individuals in leadership positions struggle with how to address this critical issue. The apparent answer seems even more unsettling when looking at the increased prevalence and continued expansion of scandals within the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors.

Rather than share one opinion, “Moral leadership: Doing what’s right is the right thing to do for you and your organization” delves into the science of individual, team, and organizational excellence for the answer. Indeed, research clearly shows us that moral leadership contributes to significant intangible (e.g., increased employee engagement, improved job satisfaction) and tangible (e.g., higher revenue, profits, etc.) benefits for organizations that align with these principles. By drawing on classic and cutting edge research, this session will show unequivocally that moral leadership and success can not only co-exist, but the former maximizes the chances of the latter.

This session also shares concrete tips and strategies that can be immediately adopted within organizations at a micro- and macro-level. It will challenge participants to think about how to leverage the power of “doing what’s right.”

Learner Outcomes:

1. Understand and manage their blind spots

2. Identify evidence-based strategies to raise their self-awareness and receive constructive feedback

3. Leverage the power of empathy to drive ethical leadership

Oxygen, Please! Self-Care Strategies to Slay Workplace Burnout

Jul 22, 2020 10:00am ‐ Jul 22, 2020 11:00am

Identification: 07222020

1 Clock Hour | Domain E: Human Resources

Self-care is as important as oxygen. While companies are working hard to stay competitive in today’s fast-paced, overstressed world, and authenticity is valued in the workplace - many employees are burned out, stressed out, and maxed-out. This results in low employee morale, and decreased performance - the opposite of what a thriving, successful business wants. How can one be true and authentic when they are exhausted? We strive to meet workplace goals and demands, at the expense of our own personal wellness. What if we spin this practice on its head?

My own physical and mental well-being first. Place the oxygen mask on myself first.

Why? So I am operating at my fullest potential, and benefitting the bottom line.

By incorporating simple, self-care strategies into our lives, we can slay workplace burnout and rejuvenate our sense of purpose. The simple truth is this: caring for yourself will allow you to show up as your best self at work and at home.

This fast-paced, webinar attendees will be empowered to reignite their self-care practices, allowing them to show up as their authentic selves and contribute to positive workplace culture.

Learner Outcomes:

  • Investigate simple, positive changes to increase your physical and mental health
  • Evaluate effective stress management techniques
  • Discover simple lifestyle changes to increase your overall wellness and workplace satisfaction

Coronavirus Dialouge Series: ELITE Emotional Intelligence

May 15, 2020 12:00pm ‐ May 15, 2020 1:00pm

Identification: 05152020

1 Clock Hour | Domain E: Human Resources

When EI goes up, productivity and performance follow. In this workshop, Dr. Julie Lopez discusses the PACT Method for determining invisible codes in our brain and how the application of this method applies in the workplace. In this way, a rarely talked about dimension of EI is illuminated for impactful performance results. Learn about Dr. Julie’s proven 4-part methodology to identifying invisible roadblocks and how you can make them visible for removal.

When every member on a team is feeling and doing their best, the team as a whole performs at their highest level. When any member of your team falls on hard times, the whole system is affected. As a leader, it's your job to support your team emotionally and psychologically so that your people can come back stronger and more engaged than ever.

Emotionally intelligent leaders spend less time in pointless conflict and more time building teams. Executives, managers, and companies have been investing in boosting the emotional intelligence of their teams for decades, and this is because a team that can empathize, communicate, and self-regulate emotions is one that can reach elite levels of performance.

The fact is when EI goes up, so does productivity and performance, and what company doesn't want the dream team increasing engagement and achieving higher levels of excellence?

Learner Outcomes:

  1. Participants will learn about an elite level of emotional intelligence related to our brain’s implicit memory so that they can more effectively manage and relate to their teams.
  2. By learning to recognize the signs of implicit memory blocks in colleagues, PACT methodology can be applied for improved productivity, performance and morale.
  3. Through an experiential exercise of applying the PACT method, participants will understand how the 4 steps work in order to implement this tool to more effectively move through seemingly impossible conflict.

Coronavirus Dialogue Series: Avoiding Burnout and Managing Stress

May 13, 2020 10:00am ‐ May 13, 2020 11:00am

Identification: 05132020

1 Clock Hour | Domain E: Human Resources

Stress is commonplace for those who work in the meetings industry. “Event Planner” continues to land in the top five - on the top 10 list - of the most stressful careers year after year. And, in 2019 the World Health Organization formally recognized that burnout is caused by “chronic workplace stress that is not properly managed”. While those in this industry are ‘used’ to some level of stress, it seems that it is not going to lighten up anytime soon – for anyone.

While the WHO has defined and recognized burnout and its cause, they offer no direction on prevention or recovery. Hitting burnout can be painful, lifechanging and expensive and every human effort should be made to avoid it. There are ways to avoid it when adjustments are made early enough. Today, hear from a 25+ year meetings executive who left the industry after her own experience with burnout. Her story, what to look for, what it looks like if you do nothing about it, and immediate (and simple!) ways you can protect yourself from falling into the burnout rut.

Learner Outcomes:

1. Participants will gain a clear understanding of what causes burnout, what it looks like and its cost.

2. Participants will learn the signs to look for in themselves that may indicate they are heading towards burnout and the potential impact on their body and lives.

3. Participants will learn the first line of defense simple adjustments to make in their lives to ensure their stress remains manageable and doesn’t lead to burnout.
