Event Overview

This is a two-day event that kicks off with a conversation featuring Deanna Nwosu followed by interactions with the Braindates platform.

Join your peers from around the world for a day and a half of learning, laughter, and connections during MPI’s second-ever TalkFEST, this one designed to reunite our WEC Vegas in-person and digital family. We’ll bring back one of your absolute favorite WEC Vegas experts, Deanna Nwosu, for a conversation on adopting an entrepreneurial mindset and evolving into the meeting strategist role of the future.

Then, we’ll adjourn to the Braindates platform, where you can create and join hundreds of knowledge-sharing conversations—one-on-one or in small groups via video chat. Here you will forge stronger bonds with your WEC Vegas compatriots, find new connections, re-energize ideas and concepts and share how your meetings, career, and business have changed because of your WEC experience.

You didn’t attend WEC Vegas? Don’t worry! You’re still invited to join us. Learn what you missed onsite and how you can apply the lessons learned by your peers to your organizational and professional success.

Register for the conversation with Deanna Nwosu here, but don’t forget to block off your calendar for both days—that’s Sept. 1 and 2. We will send you more information about scheduling and joining braindates when the platform goes live in August!

About Braindates

Virtual braindates are knowledge-sharing conversations that you book with others to have one-on-one or in small groups (via video chat), on the Braindate platform. They’re the best way to connect with, learn from, and have terrific conversations with new people—all virtually. Using the Braindate platform, you can share your interests in the form of topics that lead to interactive virtual discussions, and you can browse the topics of other attendees and join them in one-on-one or one-on-few conversations. Braindate is a marketplace of ideas, a means to crowdsource the knowledge of other participants and share your own.

About the Kickoff

TalkFEST Conversation with Deanna Nwosu: Why Meeting Professionals Need an Entrepreneurial Mindset

For our industry more than almost any other, the past year has demonstrated that we’re all expendable. We’ve attempted for years to prove that “Meetings Mean Business” and that our roles have a strategic place at the table – and yet our profession is still regarded by many as nothing more than fulfilling a bunch of administrative tasks. It's time for us to dictate our own paths and stop relying on others to build our careers. We are more than planners!

We are CFOs. We are Risk Analysts. We are Talent Managers. We are Directors of Marketing. We are Customer Relationship Specialists – and so much more. With all the knowledge, skills, and abilities we have, we could run the world. It’s time we start acting like it.
