International Travel Contingency Planning for Planners

Jun 18, 2019 11:00am ‐ Jun 18, 2019 12:15pm

Description

We must begin by asking ourselves “Why MUST I plan and prepare for contingencies when I’m traveling abroad?” The world is meant to be explored; but even the most developed parts of the planet have, with increasing frequency, experienced man-made events that have disrupted entire cities for days. Other areas within developing nations are subject to not only man-made events like terrorist attacks but natural disasters and weather caused catastrophes as well. Having a contingency plan in place, even the most basic one, can be life-saving. This session will use proven methods to plan for contingencies that we hope never happen…but “hope” is not a method, and sound planning is!

Learning Objectives:
  • Be able to develop an international travel contingency plan for yourself and your team or family.
  • Identify individual skills needed in a hostile or isolating event that can be learned and refined.
  • Assess the most realistic and likely risks associated with an area before the travel begins.

Speaker(s):

  • David Lau, Counterterrorism/Security Professional, Mindful Approach
