Description

Sustainable Practitioner Certificate

Length: 4 hours

Cost: $299 members / $399 non-members

With the launch of the UN Sustainable Development Goals in 2015, the government and the industry have refocused toward the 2030 achievement of responsible targets from poverty, hunger, and education to climate action, clean energy, and sustainable growth. These 17 goals have filtered through all levels of business, including meetings and events.

This interactive training course is perfect for event professionals who are looking to become the company and industry leaders in sustainable meetings and events. If your organization has signed the UN Global Compact, recast its efforts toward the Sustainable Development Goals or just wants to do better by environment and community, this course will give you the knowledge and confidence to start taking practical actions toward sustainable events.

Participants will discover the unique terminologies for sustainability and enhance their skills for communicating essential information to teams, senior leadership, and suppliers. You will learn about the significant issues of sustainability that are relevant to the event industry. Participants will also learn about the different management systems related to sustainable events, and reporting frameworks for showcasing their good work to government, business and community.

You’ll Be Able To:

  • Implement sustainable practices for meetings and events
  • Articulate the business case for implementing sustainability strategies for meetings and events
  • Speak comfortably in terminologies for sustainability
  • Utilize the ISO 20121 framework and the GRI EOSS reporting systems

There is no class reference material required to take this course. However, we do recommend that you purchase an event sustainability template for use before, during and after the training. This template provides everything required to implement ISO 20121 and report on one event according to the GRI EOSS guidelines. The cost of this template is approximately $1,500. It is an option to purchase this template after the course.
