Moral Leadership: Doing What’s Right is the Right Thing to Do for You and for Your Organization 12.09.2020

Dec 9

1 Clock Hour | Domain F: Stakeholder Management

There is a prevailing assumption that doing what’s right gets in the way of our success. In order to “make it,” we must leave our core values and integrity at the door. Most individuals in leadership positions struggle with how to address this critical issue. The apparent answer seems even more unsettling when looking at the increased prevalence and continued expansion of scandals within the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors.

Rather than share one opinion, “Moral leadership: Doing what’s right is the right thing to do for you and your organization” delves into the science of individual, team, and organizational excellence for the answer. Indeed, research clearly shows us that moral leadership contributes to significant intangible (e.g., increased employee engagement, improved job satisfaction) and tangible (e.g., higher revenue, profits, etc.) benefits for organizations that align with these principles. By drawing on classic and cutting edge research, this session will show unequivocally that moral leadership and success can not only co-exist, but the former maximizes the chances of the latter.

This session also shares concrete tips and strategies that can be immediately adopted within organizations at a micro- and macro-level. It will challenge participants to think about how to leverage the power of “doing what’s right.”

Learner Outcomes:

1. Understand and manage their blind spots

2. Identify evidence-based strategies to raise their self-awareness and receive constructive feedback

3. Leverage the power of empathy to drive ethical leadership
