    Helping today’s event professionals twist the familiar using the rule of three | March 10th, 2025, 11 am - 12 pm CT | 11 Clock Hour, Domain A: Strategic Planning

    The rule of three is a time-tested, centuries-old principle that suggests that things arranged in threes are more satisfying, effective, and memorable than other numbers. Here’s a unique approach for event professionals with three related topics designed to help you change up your game and embrace new ways of thinking and approaching your job one – in other words, helping you twist the familiar.

    Our hour will feature three topics:

    * Event professionals can often find themselves in the role of selling something – an idea, a plan, an alternative, etc. Understanding sales fundamentals can be of tremendous help!

    * Independent solopreneurs face unique challenges and opportunities in order to build and maintain success – we’ll discuss some key items for their toolkit.

    * We’ll explore how event professionals can twist the mundane and ordinary and bring more exciting ROI/ROE to their events

    What participants will learn:

    * Sales fundamentals and effective methods of persuading others to “buy”

    * Elements of a toolkit that enhance results (and sometimes survival) for solopreneurs/small business owners

    * Ways to bring about more “extraordinary” in return on investment/return on engagement

    Surviving & Thriving in a World of Mental Health Misunderstanding | February 3rd, 2025 | 11 am - 12 pm Central | Domain A: Strategic Planning

    This session is equal parts education and advocacy, speaking from first hand experience on the ever important topic of mental health. Participants will hear Eli Gorin's journey through the past decade of not just surviving, but eventually thriving, with major depressive disorder (MDD) and anxiety - two diagnoses that for years have been very misunderstood and rarely spoken about in public. It will bring to light an everyday perspective of living with mental health conditions from the speaker's first hand accounts, educating the audience on what mental health issues are really like, while at the same time hopefully showing those living with similar conditions that there are others out there willing to speak and there is nothing to fear.

    Learner Objectives:

    1. Develop a better understanding of what conditions like depression and anxiety are from someone surviving and thriving with them;

    2. Learn to better communicate with people who live with a mental health condition and understand how best to support them

    3. Help break the stigma of wild assumptions people have regarding mental health issues.
